MACRAME , BRAIDING and KNOTTING

MACRAME??? do you remember those play school days when we used to make friendship bracelets. Well that is how i understand macrame to be.
In the textbook manner, Macrame is a form of textile- making using knotting rather than weaving or knitting.
BRAIDING ... girls know it very well but with various other techniques, girls, you may make your hair look amazing. Now you've certainly got new up-dos to try on ;)

lets go back to the memory of our school days and explore the beautiful technique of macrame. By this statement i don't mean just the bracelets. with the help of the variations of macrame and knotting one can create anything.

till then saionara. stay fun. ;)

Tablet Weaving

Being creative, an explorer, an adventurer and a sportsperson too, getting bound to a particular area of working, isn't my style.I tend to change my place of work. Craft is quite an hobby as well as an academic requirement for me, but weaving takes a lot of what i don't like(as mentioned above).

yeah, seems i have said quite a lot about myself than what i was suppose to talk about in this blog. well, then here we go. Let me introduce you the technique of Card Weaving, which does lie in my style.

Card weaving, as the name suggests,is to do weaving using cards. It is also known as tablet weaving. The cards could be made up of any material whether cardboard , plastic or playing cards itself. The cards have holes in them, by which they act as sheds through which the warp threads are passed. The cards could be of any regular polygon.

STEPS TO TABLET WEAVING

This is how i modified and set up my own tablet weaving
 loom in my classroom.
yes,one can weave on two sides at the same time.

If you are using white threads, like i did, you may go for dying or coloring
the threads to give aesthetics to your weave.
pass the weft threads through on both the sides of the cards.

rotate the cards in the diretion according to the weave
you are going to use for your design.

after the cards are rotated, weave again and then rotate the tablets or the cards.
Then, continue the process to get a beautifully weaved samples.

interesting?... why don't you find it out by trying it yourself.

will you bring you up with more interesting crafts to try on, soon.
saionara, stay fun.
